Hostinger is founded in 2004 in Kaunas, Lithuania, under the name Hosting Media. The company starts as a small web hosting project for the local market, focused on affordability and ease of use — principles that stay core to its identity. The official rebrand to Hostinger happens in 2011.

In 2007, the company launched 000webhost, a free web hosting service that attracted millions of users and significantly boosted its customer base. A year later, in 2008, the Hosting24 brand launched, a cPanel-based hosting service aimed at the US market. Under CEO Arnas Stuopelis, Hostinger starts shifting from a regional player into a global force.

International expansion speeds up with the launch of regional subsidiaries: Niagahoster in Indonesia (2013) and Weblink in Brazil (2014). The company now operates in 178 countries, with localized site versions in 60+ languages. Offices are spread across Kaunas and Vilnius (Lithuania), Yogyakarta (Indonesia), and Florianópolis (Brazil).

After almost 16 years of bootstrapping, Hostinger lands a strategic investment in April 2021 from a private equity firm led by German entrepreneurs Jochen Berger and Thomas Strohe, who buy about 31% of the company. Revenue jumps fast: 110,2 million EUR in 2023 (+57% YoY) and 182,4 million EUR in 2024 (+65% YoY). Financial Times ranks Hostinger #2 in Europe in the “Long-term Growth Champions 2026” list.

The main legal entity is Hostinger International Limited, registered in Larnaca, Cyprus (61 Lordus Vironos str., 6023), with regional entities in the UK (Hostinger UK Limited), Indonesia (PT Web Media Technology Indonesia), and Singapore (Hostinger Pte Ltd). The team has around 1,000-1,100 employees from 54 countries, with about 400 specialists based in Lithuania.

The infrastructure includes 11 data centers across 4 continents: Dallas and Boston (USA), São Paulo (Brazil), London (UK), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Vilnius (Lithuania), Paris (France), Mumbai (India), Singapore, and Jakarta (Indonesia). Several locations use renewable energy (Boston, Lithuania, UK, Brazil, France).

The tech stack runs on LiteSpeed Web Server (used since 2017), NVMe SSD storage, an in-house CDN, and KVM virtualization for VPS. The in-house control panel, hPanel, replaces traditional cPanel with an intuitive interface that includes SSH access, WP-CLI, Git, PHP version control, and a MySQL manager. All plans include free SSL and DDoS protection.

Hostinger invests heavily in AI, launching Kodee, an AI assistant that automates 350+ tasks. In September 2025, Kodee handles 855,000 conversations, with 76% resolved without human help. The AI Website Builder can create full sites in minutes, generate SEO-friendly content, images, and logos.

The portfolio includes shared web hosting (from $1,99/month), WordPress managed hosting (from $1,79/month), KVM VPS hosting (from $4,99/month), cloud hosting, email hosting (from $0,99/mailbox/month), and an AI website builder (formerly Zyro, integrated in 2023). Hostinger doesn’t offer bare-metal dedicated servers — VPS is the highest-tier option available.
